Thunderwolves women drop finale to McMaster

The Marauders went on to defeat visiting Lakehead 82-40 to round out the OUA women’s basketball regular season.

HAMILTON – The McMaster Marauders could have put up a goose egg in the second half and still beaten the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday night.

The Marauders held the Thunderwolves to 11 or fewer points in all four quarters and went on to defeat visiting Lakehead 82-40 to round out the OUA women’s basketball regular season.

McMaster led 45-18 at the half.

Paula Lopez led the T-Wolves with 13 points. Fellow Spaniard added 10 for LU, who finish the season at 5-17.

McMaster’s Jenna Button dropped 31 points to lead all players in scoring, while Amy Stinson had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double.  

McMaster will host Western in the opening round of the playoffs.

Lakehead was officially eliminate from the postseason after Friday night’s loss to the Marauders.
