WATERLOO, Ont. – A weekend sweep on the road wasn’t in the cards for the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s hockey team.

Matt Onuska saw to that.

The Waterloo Warriors goaltender stopped all 40 shots directed his way to record the shutout, leading his team to a 4-0 win at home on Saturday night.

Jesse Fishman, Adamo Santia, Cole Frasher and Liam Fedak scored for Waterloo (7-9-4), who puled wo within four points of a playoff spot.

Carson Cherepak made 22 saves in the loss between the pipes for LU.

The Warriors currently sit in eighth place in the OUA West. The top six teams make the postseason.

Lakehead dropped to 11-7-2, leaving them in a three-way tie for second place in the conference.

The Thunderwolves host Concordia and Ottawa at home next weekend.
