Tigers basketball advances to OFSAA

Team will head to North Bay for provincials, which run from March 3 to March 5.

THUNDER BAY – The Westgate Tigers are headed to provincials.

The Tigers clinched a spot at the OFSAA championships in North Bay over the weekend, sweeping Sioux North in back-to-back games to claim the best-of-three NWOSSA senior boys' basketball championship.

The Tigers took Game 1 83-51, with Nathan Miller and Ben Keeler leading the way with 15 points apiece.

Ryder Boissoneault led Sioux North with a game-high 16.

In the second game, the Tigers outlasted the Warriors 67-36. Miller and Keeler led the way, each scoring 12 points. Nathan Vibert and Mitchell Papineau chipped in eight each.

Boissonneault had 15 for the Warriors, including three second-half three-pointers.

 The schedule has yet to be announced for the OFSAA ‘AA’ championship, which take place from March 3 to March 5.
