There is still no timeline on when the James Street Swing Bridge will re-open to vehicle traffic, but Canadian National Railway officials confirm the roadway portions of the bridge will be repaired.
CN has received an initial report from a consultant hired to assess the roadway parts of the bridge and the company's regional manager of government and public affairs Lindsay Fedchyshyn said they have reviewed that report, but are requesting additional information.
"I expect to have a firm update in the next few days in terms of timing as to when we're going to get a crew out on the bridge to start attempting initial repairs," she said in an interview with CKPR Radio.
And once a crew is on the bridge conducting repairs, it will take a few weeks to complete that work.
But Fedchyshyn said the work will be done.
"We do need that. The community needs that. It is a very busy artery in town," she said.
