Toronto-area resident charged with drug trafficking

OPP seized suspected cocaine after stopping a vehicle on Highway 11/17 east of Thunder Bay.

THUNDER BAY — A resident of the Greater Toronto Area has been charged with drug trafficking as the result of an ongoing investigation by the OPP-led Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team.

The arrest was made after OPP stopped a vehicle on Highway 11/17 in the municipality of Shuniah on June 18.

According to police, officers seized 2.5 kilos of suspected cocaine and two cell phones.

A 23-year-old woman from Mississauga was remanded into custody for a court appearance in Thunder Bay on Monday.

The provincial guns and gangs enforcement team is comprised of members of 20 police services, including the Thunder Bay Police Service and the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.
