THUNDER BAY — A local clinic says people have been hospitalized after ingesting rat poison being sold on the streets of Thunder Bay as fentanyl.

NorWest Community Health Centres posted a warning about the situation on social media Tuesday.

It said tests have shown a substance being distributed as turquoise fentanyl is actually rat poison, which is potentially lethal to humans.

According to NorWest, multiple individuals have already been taken to hospital.

The clinic advised drug users to take their drugs to Path 525 for testing before ingesting.

Path 525 is located at NorWest Community Health Centre's location on Simpson Street.
