THUNDER BAY – Traffic is expected to be backed up a busy Highway 61 intersection early this week.

The provincial Ministry of Transportation is scheduled to do work on Monday and Tuesday which includes painting a northbound acceleration lane to improve traffic movement.

Work is scheduled to be done on Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. if weather permits, where the intersection will be under flagging and delays are expected.

The intersection is the primary access point to the Fort William First Nation with the James Street Swing Bridge closed to vehicular traffic.

The annual Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on Tuesday morning at the Mount McKay Scenic Lookout.

The Ministry of Transportation is asking motorists to obey signs and personnel as well as to consider the roadwork when planning their commute.
