THUNDER BAY — Two people face charges after police recovered suspected drugs and an illegally modified shotgun following a traffic stop for erratic driving.

Thunder Bay police officers saw the vehicle on the city's south side on Thursday morning and a check of its licence plates led to the discovery that it had been reported stolen.

Officers with the police service's Break and Enter and Robbery unit stopped the vehicle on Vickers Street.

Police found suspected fentanyl and cocaine, along with a shotgun shell, which led them to find an illegally modified shotgun in the trunk of the vehicle.

A 43-year-old from Thunder Bay faces 11 total charges, including several relating to firearms and drug possession. A 24-year-old city woman is charged with possession of stolen property.

The female suspect was released with a future court date, while the male suspect was remanded into custody.
