Transport driver charged after Dawson Road collision

A driver from southern Ontario is charged with disobeying a red light at the East Avenue intersection

THUNDER BAY —  The driver of a transport truck was charged by Thunder Bay Police following a collision Monday evening on Dawson Road.

The incident happened at about 8:45 p.m. at the East Avenue intersection.

According to the Thunder Bay Police Service, a tractor-trailer came into collision with an SUV, leaving the passenger vehicle with extensive damage and a fuel spill on the roadway.

It's not believed that any personal injuries sustained in the collision were life-threatening.

Traffic in the vicinity was disrupted for a few hours until police cleared the scene.

TBPS has charged a 50-year-old truck driver from Kitchener with a red light violation.
