Charges have been laid following an industrial accident in which a worker received a severe electrical shock.

The incident happed just before 5 p.m. Monday near Shabaqua Corners, as a loader was being taken off a flat-bed trailer at a construction site.

During the process, the loader came into contact with a telecommunications wire. While they were trying to untangle the loader, an east-bound transport carrying a load of logs came into contact with some overhead hydro wires.

That contact caused a construction worker to be injured and a small fire to start on the tree line.

The log-hauler was stopped by the OPP and was charged with having an insecure load, an over-height load and other violations.

The worker was treated at hospital and released.
