THUNDER BAY — A Brampton, Ontario truck driver will appear in Thunder Bay court on March 4 to answer to a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

The charge by the OPP relates to a fatal collision that occurred in late 2022 on Highway 102, west of Silver Falls Road.

On Dec. 2, just before 10 p.m., a transport truck collided with a snowplow, resulting in the death of the 52-year-old operator of the plow.

The collision forced an extended closure of the highway between Mapleward Road and Sistonen's Corner.

The 33-year-old accused has been released from custody pending his court date.

In a news release announcing the charge, OPP said incidents resulting in the loss of life and serious injuries "can be complex to investigate . . . thorough and accurate investigations help ensure that motorists who cause these collisions are held accountable for their driving behaviours. The victims and their families deserve no less."
