UPDATED: Truckers from Calgary and Acton, Ontario died in crash near Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police have released the identities of the two people killed in a collision west of Thunder Bay on Saturday night.

Shortly after 10 p.m., a tractor-trailer westbound on Highway 102 collided with a pickup truck towing a 5th wheel trailer at the intersection with Highway 11-17, also known as Sistonen's Corner.

A passenger in the transport truck, 38-year-old Ahmed Omer of Calgary, died at the scene.

Driver Parmohit Chaudhary, 22, of Acton, Ontario was taken to hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

OPP said four occupants of the pickup truck all suffered serious injuries, including a six-year-old child who was flown to London, Ontario for further evaluation.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
