Two collisions slow traffic on Expressway

Two collisions during the morning commute slowed traffic to a crawl between Oliver Road and John Street.

Two collisions on the Thunder Bay Expressway between Oliver Road and John Street slowed traffic to a near halt early Friday morning.

THUNDER BAY - Traffic on Highway 11/17 between Oliver Road and John Street was reduced to a crawl following two collisions that took place Friday morning.

Just north of Oliver Road, two pickup trucks were involved in a collision in the southbound lane, with one sustaining extensive damage and blocking both lanes.

Police, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, and one ambulance were on the scene.

Closer to John Street, a second collision in one northbound lane appeared to involve two cars with one sustaining damage to the front end. A fire truck and ambulance were on the scene.

Traffic in the southbound lane was stopped completely while the northbound lane was still moving.  

There is no word on any injuries as a result of the collisions.
