Incidents caused brief hold and secure at two Lakehead public schools

Lakehead Public Schools would like to thank emergency services, the staff and students for making sure the school communities were safe during this time.

THUNDER BAY – As the result of possible danger from two separate incidents outside and unrelated to Lakehead Public Schools, McKenzie Public School and Algonquin Avenue Public School were placed in a brief hold and secure on Friday.

Algonquin was released from its hold and secure by the Thunder Bay Police Service around noon in under an hour from the original call while the Ontario Provincial Police lifted McKenzie’s hold and secure in under an hour from its original call as well around 2:30 p.m.

As a result of these incidents being resolved quickly, normal school and operational activities were able to continue throughout the day, the release said.
