Two men charged in home takeover investigation

THUNDER BAY – Two men from southern Ontario are facing criminal charges after an investigation into a home takeover on the city’s south side.

Thunder Bay police officers responded to a report of a home takeover around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at a North James Street residence.

Officers found two men trying to hide within the home. Both individuals were arrested and taken into police custody.

Paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking and more than $10,000 in cash were found.

A 22-year-old male, of East York, Ont., and a 19-year-old male, of Scarborough, Ont., were each charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Both accused appeared in court on Friday. The 19-year-old male remains in custody and the 22-year-old male was released.

Both accused have future court appearance dates.
