Two people charged in Amelia St. drug bust

The OPP-led Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team executed a search warrant and seized drugs, cash and drug-trafficking paraphernalia.

THUNDER BAY — A 59-year-old Thunder Bay woman and a 26-year-old man from Pointe-Claire, Québec face multiple charges after police executed a search warrant at a residence on Amelia St. West.

The OPP-led Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team Police seized cocaine, suspected fentanyl, five cell phones, cash, and drug-trafficking paraphernalia after an investigation that also involved Thunder Bay Police, the RCMP and the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.

Charges against both accused include possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, possession of cocaine for trafficking, and possession of fentanyl for trafficking.

The Thunder Bay woman was released from custody pending a court appearance next month, while the resident of Quebec was held in custody pending a future court appearance.
