THUNDER BAY — Two people were taken to the hospital following a fire in the Kam River encampment area Wednesday morning.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a fire in the Kam River encampment area off of Simpson Street around 4 a.m.
When they arrived, the first crew encountered a tent engulfed in flames. Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly using a hand line.
Paramedics were requested to attend the scene and two individuals were transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for medical evaluation.
A media release from Thunder Bay Fire Rescue stated the damage was limited to one tent, and Thunder Bay police are investigating the incident.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
