THUNDER BAY — Two spectacularly successful Broadway musicals will hit the stage at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium this fall.
Come From Away will be performed on Oct. 12 and Oct. 13, while The Book Of Mormon is scheduled for Dec. 7 and Dec. 8.
Chicago-based promoter Innovation Arts & Entertainment made the announcement Wednesday in a news release.
"For the first time ever in Thunder Bay, patrons can experience the best of touring Broadway, direct from New York," it said. "This is a unique, incredible opportunity to see two phenomenal shows, direct from Broadway, live on stage in Thunder Bay."
Come From Away has won best musical awards all across North America.
It tells the story of the extraordinary hospitality the people of Gander, Newfoundland showed to 7,000 stranded airline passengers after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the U.S.
The Book Of Mormon has been described by the New York Times as the best musical of this century.
The musical comedy is a nine-time Tony Award winner.
A spokesperson for the promoter said tickets are on sale now, and range from $150 to $300, with a 10 per cent discount if purchased before Friday night.
Trevor Hurtig, general manager of the auditorium, said "These are two of the biggest Broadway shows that are touring right now. So we're really excited that Innovation Arts is bringing this to Thunder Bay for us. I think it's going to go really, really well."
