Two treated for possible smoke inhalation after FWFN fire

Two pets were also rescued in the late Saturday night incident.

FORT WILLIAM FIRST NATION – Two residents of a Fort William First Nation residence were treated for possible smoke inhalation after a cooking fire got out of control in the home.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to the fire just before midnight on Saturday, Oct. 12, and upon arrival encountered large amounts of fire sweeping through the house.

Four pumper trucks and a command unit responded to bring the fire under control.

Both residents were released by paramedics at the scene.

Two pets were also rescued during the Squaw Bay Road incident.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue reminds the public that if they encounter a fire in their residence, they should evacuate immediately and call 911. The public should not put themselves in danger trying to fight the fire.
