United Way receives pledge to match donations up to $10,000 this Giving Tuesday

Local company will match donations to United Way of Thunder Bay on Giving Tuesday up to $10,000.

THUNDER BAY – Giving Tuesday, a day when individuals, charities and businesses from around the world join together to support local charities and non-profit organizations.

“Giving Tuesday is known as the opening day of the giving season. We invite you to donate to our #GivingTuesday campaign. A donation can change a life and offer hope to a neighbour in need. All funds raised stay local to combat poverty and other social issues in Thunder Bay. Help Make every dollar two!” said Albert Brulé, chief executive officer, United Way of Thunder Bay,

“From hunger and homelessness to social isolation, mental health challenges, and financial literacy, United Way continues to collaborate with community partners to ensure that people’s basic needs are met.”

In recognition of the event, Intercity Industrial announced that it will match all donations to United Way of Thunder Bay on Giving Tuesday up to $10,000.

“So we all know that poverty is larger than ever, of course COVID’s made things even more complicated. This is just our way of thanking United Way and giving something back to the community.“ said Craig Urquhart, president, Intercity Industrial.

During the announcement from Intercity Industrial, United Way of Thunder Bay also announced details of its Gifts that Give Back Online Auction.

It features 50 packages including Persians for a Year, Be a Bee Keeper with Roots to Harvest, a five course cooking class with a Thunder Bay chef, local pottery, handmade charcuteries boards, and more.

“These truly are gifts that give back, even after the holiday season. All proceeds from the Gifts that Give Back auction support the Local Love in Action fundraising campaign helping to tackle poverty in our community,” said Jodi Wilson, director, philanthropy & community engagement, United Way of Thunder Bay.”
