THUNDER BAY -- A winter weather alert is in effect for Thunder Bay.

Environment Canada on Tuesday issued the alert, saying between 10 and 15 centimetres of snow could fall on the city, with snowfall at times heavy.

The system is expected to make its way through Thunder Bay, starting in the morning and should be done by the afternoon.

The storm is the result of an Alberta Clipper passing through the region.

Poor weather conditions may contribute to traffic delays.

The snow is expected to taper off on Tuesday afternoon.

For highway conditions, visit Ontario 511.
