MARATHON – Saturday’s frigid temperatures are about to pave the way for an early spring storm that could dump up to 25 centimetres of snow on the region.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for Marathon and Schreiber, stating an Alberta Clipper is expected to roll through the area starting on Sunday morning. The watch is also in place in Nipigon.

The storm, which will bring heavy snow at times, will last through Monday, though total snowfall amounts are still in flux.

Travel could be difficult, and the public is advised to avoid travel if possible.
