THUNDER BAY -- Classes at one of the busiest buildings on the Lakehead University campus were disrupted Monday morning by a broken water pipe.
The university closed and evacuated the Advanced Technology and Academic Centre building on after a pipe burst in the fire protection system.
An email alert sent to students just before 11 a.m. advised that the pipe broke on the sixth floor though the entire building’s fire protection system had to be disabled.
The building’s main doors were locked.
It took at least a couple of hours to repair the break and clean up the damage. The building was re-opened in the afternoon.
The CJ Sanders Fieldhouse and Hangar buildings were both closed Sunday after a watermain break. The Fieldhouse reopened at 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
University officials did not provide a timeline for when the ATAC would be reopened.
