THUNDER BAY - While no people were injured, nearly half the cattle on board a tractor trailer were killed in a crash earlier Thursday.
The OPP report the cattle hauler was eastbound on Highway 11/17 just west of Sunshine when the driver lost control and the vehicle, which was transporting about 95 cattle, rolled onto its side.
The provincial police issued a statement late in the afternoon saying 55 of the animals survived.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were blocked and briefly closed while the vehicle was removed.
