Police searching Thunder Bay's north side for missing boy, suspect

The suspect — 28-year-old Christopher Daniel Poulin — was last seen on foot late Tuesday morning in the Dublin Street area.

Update: The Amber Alert has been cancelled after the child was found safe Tuesday evening. This is a previous story from earlier Tuesday.

THUNDER BAY — City police are searching the city's north side as they look for eight-year-old Emerson Poulin and his suspected abductor.

Thunder Bay police issued an update Tuesday evening, after an Amber Alert was issued earlier in the day for Emerson Poulin and 28-year-old Christopher Daniel Poulin.

Police said the two were last seen in Thunder Bay around 11 p.m. Monday, and Christopher Poulin was seen on foot late Tuesday morning in the Dublin Street area.

Emerson Poulin is described as white, about four-feet in height and weighing 70 pounds with a thin build, brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a bright yellow jacket, dark pants, black and red shoes with velcro straps, and black-rimmed glasses.

The suspect is described as a white man, standing about five-foot-nine in height and weighing about 190 pounds with shoulder-length bleached blond hair that is sometimes worn in a ponytail. He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap with a green beanie underneath and a grey and white sweater.

Ontario Provincial Police have been brought in to assist in the search efforts.

Thunder Bay police said it has not been ruled out that Christopher Poulin, who is from Prince Albert, Sask., is either en route or may attempt to go to Saskatchewan.

Canada-wide warrants have been issued for Christopher Poulin on the charges of abduction, forcible confinement, and breach of release.

Anyone who sees the suspect is urged to immediately contact 911, and not confront or approach him. Police are still seeking details about a vehicle, and anyone with information about the vehicle he is driving is also asked to call 911.
