THUNDER BAY — The cost of repairs necessitated by the wanton destruction of glass at Thunder Bay Transit shelters continues to grow.

The latest episode of vandalism occurred on the weekend in the Windsor Street and Junot Avenue area.

Transit management said the glass on three sides of a shelter on Junot near the Boys and Girls Clubs of Thunder Bay building was deliberately destroyed.

There are three bus shelters in the immediate vicinity, and all three have been vandalized in a similar fashion since June.

Around the city, more than 20 shelters have been damaged so far this year.

Transit manager Brad Loroff  has described the ongoing vandalism as "extremely frustrating," not only because it's expensive to replace glass, but because it creates a lot of inconvenience for transit passengers, especially in bad weather.
