THUNDER BAY — So far this year, the glass walls of at least 23 Thunder Bay Transit shelters have been destroyed by vandals.
The latest incident occurred near the Canada Games Complex, where a bus driver discovered Thursday morning that two shelters — on opposite sides of Winnipeg Avenue — had been smashed.
Thunder Bay Transit has appealed to members of the public who witness acts of vandalism, or who may have relevant information, to contact police.
"It is a real shame when senseless vandalism like this occurs. It affects neighbours in the area and commuters who take transit regularly," transit manager Brad Loroff said last month after the glass was shattered in two shelters on River Street near Grandview Mall.
He said the transit department is continuing to look for options to make it harder for vandals to damage shelters.
