TORONTO – The worst defensive team in the OUA has got to find a way to keep the puck out of the net, or next weekend could be their final games on home ice in 2021-22.

The Lakehead Thunderwolves, victimized for nine goals on Friday night, gave up eight more on Saturday and dropped a lopsided 8-2 decision to the Toronto Varsity Blues, falling to fourth place in the OUA West.

It was the third straight defeat for the sinking T-Wolves, and fifth loss in their last five outings.

The Varsity Blues (4-4-0) scored the first five goals of the contest, three by Kyle Potts. Peyton Reeves had a pair for Toronto, with singles going to Ross Krieger, Steven Elliott and Ben Woodhouse.

All eight goals were netted against Thunderwolves goaltender Brock Aiken.

Lakehead (3-8-0) is the lone team in the OUA to average more than five goals against per game, climbing to 5.09 after Saturday’s loss.

Tyler Ho had both goals for Lakehead, beating Alex Bishop in the second and third periods.

Aiken faced 34 shots on the night, Bishop just 22.

The Wolves will take on first-place Brock at home on Friday and Saturday night, their first home games in nearly three months.
