Vehicles severely damaged in Highway 11/17 collision

THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police say they continue to investigate a serious collision that occurred Tuesday on Highway 11/17 in Shuniah.

Superior North EMS paramedics assessed three individuals at the scene, one of whom had an injured foot.

Police, Shuniah Fire and Emergency Services, and paramedics all responded. 

OPP have not disclosed details, saying only that two passenger vehicles collided at the intersection with McKenzie Heights Road just before 5:00 p.m.

Photos posted on social media showed an overturned compact car with severe damage on its side and a pickup truck with a wrecked front end.

A police spokesperson confirmed Wednesday there were no life-threatening injuries, and said the investigation is ongoing.
