Officials with VIA Rail say they have reviewed the company’s operations and determined the Longlac station is no longer required.
The train will continue to run through there, however passengers will have to wait outside.
Greenstone Mayor Ron Beaulieu worries people will be left in the cold as the train is often late.
“People will have to be waiting outside, sometimes in 40 below weather, just to take the train,” Beaulieu said during an interview with CKPR Radio Wednesday.
Council will be reaching out to MP Bruce Hyer (Ind., Thunder Bay - Superior North) who has been pushing for increased VIA Rail services across this region.
