Victim of Friday's fatal crash identified

THUNDER BAY -- Ontario Provincial Police have identified the woman who was killed on Friday in a fatal three-vehicle collision on Highway 61.

In a release issued on Monday morning, police said 45-year-old Rachel Legarde of Fort William First Nation died as a result of the collision, pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the victim's vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 61 and collided with a pair of southbound SUVs traveling in the opposite direction at the Kaministiquia Bridge.

The female driver of one of the SUVs, the male driver of the other and the female passenger in the victim's car were all transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are now turning to the public for information related to the crash and ask witnesses to hone OPP at 939-2133 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
