THUNDER BAY — When Ernie Eberhardt went into work Tuesday morning, he first wondered if someone had entered the yard without permission during the Thanksgiving weekend.

A cable that's usually stretched across the entryway of Jet Welding and Ornamental Ironworks on Fitzgerald Street when the business is closed was lying flat on the ground.

But it turned out that a cow moose was responsible.

Eberhardt found out by checking the video feeds from the multiple security cameras he has around the property.

The recordings showed a healthy cow moose strolling in the yard before trying to figure out how to exit onto the street.

"I've got my cameras going 24/7.  We came into work and the cable was down. We just assumed somebody had driven into it. Lo and behold, there's a moose wandering around the yard."

After a couple of approaches, the animal jumped over the cable with ease, but knocked it down in the process.

Everhardt says it appears to have spent some time sleeping in the area.
