Video: Helicopter saves utility vehicle that broke through ice on Lake of the Woods (3 photos)

A Kenora-based chopper came to the rescue.

KENORA, ON —  In what may have been one of the company's most unusual jobs, a Kenora-based helicopter company was called to assist a party out of a sticky situation on Lake of the Woods.                      .

Forest Helicopters has posted a video to its Facebook page showing an April 11 rescue mission which saw one of its machines drop a line to the lake surface so it could be attached to a utility vehicle that had broken through the ice.

The company's Eurocopter AS350B2 then lifted the Polaris Ranger side-by-side to an area nearby where the ice was solid.

As the caption over the video noted "While spring is in the air, it's important to keep ice safety in mind."
