MUNISING, Michigan — A group of paddlers on the south shore of Lake Superior had an uncomfortably close encounter with a collapsing cliff this week.

The incident on Monday was captured by a drone-mounted camera by Minnesota-based nature photographers Craig Blacklock and Jon Smithers.

The cliff, about 60 metres high, is part of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

U.S. media reports said smaller rocks had fallen near the group before a large section collapsed at once.

Fortunately, the kayakers were already paddling away from the area when the incident occurred, but they were still close enough to get sprayed with water.
