THUNDER BAY -- The Junk Zone featuring Spins Record Shop will be closing permanently on Sunday.

“This is a very tough business decision that had to be made,” the owner, Dan Cheal, said in a Facebook post on Monday morning.

“I am shifting 100 per cent of my attention and focus to the junk removal part of my business as it continues to grow. As many of you know and realize - it can be very difficult when you spread yourself too thin.”

Cheal thanked everyone who came to the shop and helped spread the word about it.

The Junk Zone became a regular hang out on the weekends for many people who really grew to love the place, he said.

“Actually, I liked the customers - who many I now call good friends - more than the actual business. That’s what makes this so difficult for me.

“I’m sure most will understand the disappointment but also the importance of the change of direction. We had something special while it lasted and for that I have you to thank.”

Everything will be 50 per cent off this weekend.

Located at 938 Alloy Dr., the store will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 am until 4 pm.

“If you have gift cards / store credit - please come in this weekend. If you cannot make it this weekend - don’t worry, you will be taken care of,” Cheal said.
