Water Authorities in Ontario have been mandated by provincial legislation to develop new financial plans that move toward adequate resources for the provision of safe drinking water today and for the future.

For all single family detached residential buildings and semi-detached residential buildings that are individually metered, the new water rate system consists of:
  • Fixed cost of $176 per year
  • Volumetric charge of $1.055 for every cubic metre of water consumed
  • Sewer rate which is 75% of the total fixed and volumetric charges.

For all other customers, from residents of a duplex who share a meter to institutional, commercial, industrial and multi-residential buildings, the new water rate consists of:

  • Fixed cost based on meter size
  • Volumetric charge of $0.650 for every cubic metre of water consumed
  • Sewer rate which is 75% of the total fixed and volumetric charges.
  • Water rate increases for the three months ending April 30 and May 31 will be phased in to reflect the portions of the billing at the old and new rates.
