UPDATED: Water rescue operation at James Street Swing Bridge

THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Fire Rescue units were deployed for a water rescue at the James Street Swing Bridge on Monday afternoon.

A call came in at about 2:20 p.m. about a person in the Kam River beneath the bridge.

Upon arriving at the scene, crews deployed a watercraft and rescued the individual from a wooden structure in the river

Firefighters quickly transported the person to the Mountdale boat launch and into a waiting ambulance for further medical assessment.
