A pedestrian bridge to the waterfront will be closed while it gets an upgrade.
The bridge, built in the early ‘90s, will be getting a new paint job, a new railing and some minor concrete repairs done to it starting next week.
The ramp leading into the park will also have wood put on it and a cable system so that vines can grow along it. City project engineer Mike Vogrig said the intention is to match the bridge with the look of the newer buildings at Prince Arthur's Landing.
"We're kind of giving it a bit of a face lift," he said.
While there are still some events being held at the marina, the city wanted to wait until major events like Canada Day were over to start construction as the bridge will be closed for the repairs.
"We assume it'll be closed until the end of September," he said.
As for pedestrians, they will have to use other crossings to get into the park.
