Weather closes several rural schools, cancels rural bus routes

THUNDER BAY – Poor weather and road conditions have led to the closure of several rural schools and the cancellation of all rural school bus routes.

The Crestview, Gorham and Ware, Kakabeka, Valley Central, and Whitefish Valley public schools will be closed Friday, Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay (STSTB) announced in a release.

Nor’Westeview, Five Mile and Mckenzie remain open with no school bus service, the transportation consortium added.

In addition to rural school bus routes for all boards, wheelchair accessible buses are also cancelled for the day.

All Catholic elementary schools and French Catholic elementary and high schools are open, and all city school bus transportation for those students is running.

Public board city schools are open and school bus routes in the city are running.
