Saturday, May 28

Markets:

The Thunder Bay Country Market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition: 425 Northern Ave. head on down to buy local groceries, crafts, and gifts from the talented, hard-working local people who created them.

The Moose Hall, located at 434 Fort William Road, is holding a Gigantic Yard Sale/Garage Sale from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to head down and see what’s for sale.

Competitions:

The UBC is celebrating its 28th National Apprenticeship Competition, an event that showcases the varied skills of members who are completing their apprenticeship journeys. Residents are invited to attend the open house at 1306 Capital Way from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. Masks are required indoors.

Workshops:

EcoSuperior Environmental Programs is holding an Intermediate Bike Mechanic Workshop from 10 a.m until 1 p.m. at 303 Simpson Street. Topics covered in this workshop include how to patch a tube puncture, calibrate brakes & gears, adjust wheel & bottom bracket bearing compression, replace a brake lever and how to replace a chain. Cultural Events:

The Gathering of the People Powwow is being held this weekend, Saturday’s events are being held at Evergreen Park at the Corner of Arundel St & Lyon Blvd. Grand Entry at 1 p.m. Potluck Feast from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. Bring your own chairs. OPEN TO ALL. Volunteers still needed.

Theatre:

Cambrian Players proudly presents: Alice in Wonderland. In a twist on the classic, Alice, now a senior whose memories are slipping away, explores the fantasy at the bottom of the rabbit hole.  Doors open at 7 p.m., show begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. at the Cambrian Players Studio, 818 Spring Street. Live Music:

Prepare for MADNESS! ForTheGiant presents a project release party from local Artist, Dallas and special guests! 8 p.m. at Atmos. 19+ Get your tickets here! ($20 - $45)

Br. 5 Legion presents: Hopeless Ghost + Ampus & Claudia B. 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Port Arthur Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 5, 229 Van Norman. 19+ $10 at the door.

Halloween in May!? You bet! Black Pirates Pub is hosting a Halfway to Halloween Costume Party and Tribute show starting at 9 p.m. Dust off your costumes! Costume contest with prizes for best new costume, worst ever costume and most original costume. 19+ Get your tickets here! ($10)

NV Music Hall is holding Ladies Night featuring DJ Supa! 19+ $10 at the door. Doors open at 10 p.m. Booths are almost sold out!

Mother Of Wolves is playing at the Wayland starting at 10 p.m. Live music feels so good and they want to share the groovy vibrations with you all! 19+ $5 at the door.

The Foundry is holding the The Honest Heart Collective Rock Revival with The Honest Heart Collective and DJ Big D. Head out and enjoy a night of rock classics! 19+ $10 at the door. Show starts at 10 p.m.

Sunday, May 29

Fundraisers/Charities:

As part of part of National Palliative Care Week local and national hospices and palliative care organizations are organizing a nation wide Hike for Hospice. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, hikers are encouraged to walk where they are most comfortable over the weekend of May 27-29, however organizers are planning to have an in-person outdoor gathering at the Military Field, Current River Park starting at 11 a.m. Participants are invited to hike around Boulevard Lake.

Cultural Events:

Sunday’s events for the Gathering of the People Powwow are being held at Evergreen Park at the Corner of Arundel St & Lyon Blvd. Grand Entry from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Ceremonies to be done between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Bring your own chairs. OPEN TO ALL. Volunteers still needed.
