Saturday:

On Saturday the Westfort Street Fair is back for its 42nd year! From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. you can expect to see live music, a beer garden, bouncy castles, sidewalk sales, vendors and more.

From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. there will be a day worth of activities on a lighthouse island east of Silver Islet. The event takes place on Porphyry Island with charters leaving from Silver Islet at 9, 10:30 and 11 a.m. After a 20-minute ride, visitors will be greeted with an orientation for the day. The cost is $160 or $80 without charter.

On Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. the first ever Speed Puzzling Competition will be held at Toy Sense at 447 May Street North. Teams will race to complete a provided 300-piece puzzle as quickly as they can. First place wins $200. The next competition will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The second LJCA Summer Matsuri 2024 will be on Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. At West Thunder Community Centre, the festival welcomes everyone to experience Japanese Canadian culture through a variety of activities and foods that showcase the culture of Japan here in Canada.

Sunday:

On Sunday, the 7th annual Kakabeka Falls Half Marathon and 8k start at 7 a.m. at the Legion.

Thunder Bay Autocross will have its annual fundraiser for Northern Cancer Care at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Setup will be at 9 a.m. and racing will start by 11 a.m.

All Weekend Long:

Anishinaabe Keeshigun will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Fort William Historical Park. It will be a free weekend, filled with entertainment, hands on activities and demonstrations that highlight Anishinaabe culture, traditions, language, and technology. This year’s event will also include a Pow Wow and a community feast.

The Murillo Fair will be going on all weekend with admission at $5 per person. They will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. There will be tons going on at 4559 Oliver Road this weekend!
