What’s Poppin’: February 22 and 23

Saturday:

The 13th Annual Thunder Bay Science Carnival will take place at the Intercity Shopping Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This one-day event will include science, innovation and technology activities for all ages. To learn more, visit their website.

The Port Arthur Rotary Club will serve some freshly-cooked Finnish pancakes for a Finn-tactic Pancake Brunch at Hilldale Lutheran Church from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

In celebration of the International Day of Social Justice, Shelter House and Hallowed Tattoo Studios is presenting a Flash Tattoo Fundraiser on from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Magnus Theatre will present The Canadian Curling Club at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Story Time with the Thunder Bay Drag Queens and Crafting with Queens will take place for free at the Mary J.L. Black Library from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Kam River Fighting Walleye will play at the Norwest Arena at 7:05 p.m.

Paramount Theatre will once again present Young Frankenstein this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. 

Sunday:

Lappe Ski Centre will host a Women on Skis Nordic Ski Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ice Races continue this weekend at Mission Bay, starting at 12 p.m.

An Alice and Wonderland movie will be played at the West Thunder Community Centre at 12 p.m. The movie will be followed by Garfield The Movie at 3 p.m. The canteen will also be open, selling burgers, fries and movie-themed snacks. Admission is per cash donation.

Thunder Bay Art Gallery will host Wildlife Portrait Printmaking with Leanna Rosengren from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Members will pay $55 and non-members will pay $65.

Magnus Theatre will present The Canadian Curling Club at 2 p.m.

The Rotary International's 120th Anniversary will be celebrated with a Pints for Polio fundraising event at Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The $30 event will have appetizers, door prizes and raffles. The Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. will donate $0.50 per pint sold to Polio Plus.

The Annual Dinner with the Thunder Bay Field Naturalists will take place at the Current River Community Centre from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with dinner around 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online

Winter FunDays strikes again from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Baggage Building Arts Centre with a Community Tree craft with CAHEP. The West Arthur Community Centre will also have a hands-on bannock-making demonstration with the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. Afterward, locals can take advantage of the outdoor skating rink. Visit their website for more information.
