What’s Poppin’: March 8 and 9
Saturday:
The Waverley Library will hold a Story Time with the Thunder Bay Drag Queens and Kings event from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. It will be followed by a 30-minute crafting session led by TBay drag artists Faux Rocious and Fairy Contagious.
Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay will hold a Building with Beads Mardi Gras Gala at the Valhalla Inn Ballroom, with a symposium beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Magnus Theatre will present The Canadian Curling Club at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The Thunder Bay North Stars Junior A Hockey Club will play at 7:30 p.m. at the Fort William Gardens.
Sunday:
Ice Races continue this weekend at Mission Bay, starting at 12 p.m.
Winter FunDays is back again this weekend from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This week, Science North will have a winter science workshop at the Current River Community Centre. The Baggage Building Arts Centre will also hold a upcycled puzzle piece creations session with CAHEP, where residents can transform puzzle pieces into jewelry, ornaments or imaginative toys.
All Weekend Long:
The annual two-day NOSA Spring Gun Show is back for the public to buy, sell or trade: guns, knives, ammunition, collectors' cartridges, reloading supplies, optics and accessories. A food concession will also be on site. The show will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults and free to children 12 or under.
The Thunder Bay Museum will host a new exhibit in its first-floor galleries reflecting the contributions of women at the Canadian Car and Foundry in Fort William during the Second World from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The Cambrian Players will present Home I'm Darling at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The Thunder Bay Museum will display the travelling exhibit Treaty 3: Manidoo Mazina’igan, The Sacred Document. The display was developed by The MUSE in collaboration with Grand Council Treaty #3, Library and Archives Canada, the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario. It will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
