Local Sports:

The Kam River Fighting Walleye SIJHL hockey team plays a home game at the Northwest Arena on Highway 588 in Oliver Paipoonge. Game time is 7:30 p.m. See the Kam River Fighting Walleye full schedule and purchase tickets on their website for the next game.

Theatre & Cinema:

Two new movies are coming to SilverCity this weekend.

In STUDIO 666 (rated: R for strong bloody violence, gore, sexual content, pervasive language), Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock history to record their much anticipated 10th album. Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.

Cyrano (rated: PG-13 for suggestive material, some strong violence, brief language, thematic material), Cyrano re-imagines the timeless tale of a heartbreaking love triangle. A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac (played by Peter Dinklage) dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne (Haley Bennett), Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her -- and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.).

Live Music:

The Handsome Grandson plays at the Loch Lomond Ski Area Lounge starting at 3:15 p.m. This acoustic duo (founding members of local Garage Rock outfit Cartwrights) bring you their take on Americana, Folk, Outlaw Country and Rock and Roll. From CCR and John Prine to Uncle Tupelo and the Ramones, they've got something for everyone. This show is free of charge and open to all ages.
