Windows blown out in Thunder Bay house fire (Video)

The occupant of a house on McIntosh Street was taken to hospital for treatment

THUNDER BAY — One person was taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation after a house fire in the east end of the city late Sunday night.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews arrived at the 800 block of McIntosh Street about 11:30 pm to find flames coming from multiple areas of a single-storey residence.

The only occupant of the house had already exited the building.

Due to the intensity of the fire, multiple windows were blown out.

But firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent homes, with six pumpers and an aerial ladder unit ultimately on the scene.

The fire is believed to have been started by discarded smoking materials.
