Woman charged in murder makes brief court appearance

Brianna Netemegesic, 20, was charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault after an incident earlier this week that left one woman dead and another seriously injured.
THUNDER BAY - A 20-year-old woman recently charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection to a homicide on Tuesday will appear in court next week.

Brianna Netemegesic was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, March 3, following an incident that left one person dead and another injured.

Netemegesic made a brief appearance in a Thunder Bay courtroom on Friday morning via video to schedule an upcoming court date for next week. The young woman is currently in the process of retaining a lawyer.

On Tuesday, March 3, Thunder Bay police officers responded to the incident just after midnight in the 100 block of Picton Avenue.

When officers arrived, they located two female victims outside near the street.

Both were transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further assessment. One victim died from their injuries and the other remains in hospital.

Thunder Bay Police Service Det. Insp. John Fennell said the victim and the accused were known to each other.
