THUNDER BAY — A Thunder Bay woman will be sentenced in the new year for her role in the death of 67-year-old Darlene Giba.

On Friday, Johnna Sonego pleaded guilty to a charge of concealing evidence in connection with the murder of Giba.

An agreed statement of facts was read into the record . However, a common-law publication ban was placed on all information in the case as to not compromise the right to a fair trial for another individual connected to the investigation.

Sonego, who was 56 at the time of her arrest in June 2023, is expected to return to court near the end of January for a sentencing hearing date to be set.
