THUNDER BAY -- A woman has suffered what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries after an apparent shooting in the Westfort business district.
Police were dispatched to a parking lot near the intersection of Frederica and Edward streets around 6 p.m. following reports of an injured female, the Thunder Bay Police Service said.
Paramedics transported the woman to hospital for further evaluation and treatment of injuries from an apparent gunshot wound, the force said. The extent of those injuries was unknown Monday evening, but police said they were believed to be non-life threatening.
The Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident, police said. Police remained on scene Monday evening, with the public asked to avoid the area until further notice.
