Although Northern Ontario's Youth Dart Team finished eigth of 10 at the Canadian Youth National Darts Championships in Richmond, B.C., a first-time local competitor held his own.

Thunder Bay Junior Steven Bukovy won the second place medal in the junior boys singles division. He was recognized for shooting three 180's, the most among any player in the tournament.

Bukovy wired a double twenty with his last dart during the fourth leg of the finals but it wasn't enough to take the title. His opponent would go on to finish first.

Sault Ste. Marie's Melanie Mitchell took second place among senior girls.

Coach Ken Casey says this team, who barely knew each other, were extremely supportive and encouraging.
