Haley Irwin is bringing home the gold.
The Thunder Bay hockey star, who finished her first Olympic Games with four goals and an assist, was held without a point on Thursday, but so was the entire American squad, as Canada won its third straight women’s hockey gold medal, beating the U.S. 2-0 in the tournament final.
Marie-Philip Poulin scored both Canadian goals, both in the opening period, all the offense the victorious Canucks would need.
Shannon Szabados stood tall in net, kicking aside 28 American shots to earn the shutout win.
